Signs your Diesel Turbo is Sick
A turbo charger is an essential part of your vehicle that will has a significant impact on its performance. As it is a moving part with its spinning blades turning at thousands of revolutions per minute, there are many reasons why a turbo can fail. Your vehicle is blowing out blue smoke
If you vehicle is blowing out blue smoke your vehicle is in bad shape. The sign of blue smoke is white smoke with a tinge of blue, and it means that the engine is burning an excessive amount of the chemicals found in lubricating oil. A cause of this is a failed turbo! Once a turbo fails the oil that lubricates it will enter the air intake, which then enters the cylinder where it gets burnt along with the fuel, the mix of chemicals in the exhaust smoke will change its colour and also its smell. Your vehicle has poor performance
This is an easy one to notice and you should become aware of straight away when it occurs. If you notice the amount of boost diminish this is due to the airflow through the turbo being restricted. And this can be caused by a damaged turbo shaft, compressor or from broken boost blades. It could also be the result of an obstruction or leak in the airflow manifold.

Your acceleration is weak
As your vehicle blows out exhaust gases, your turbo uses these and compresses them to inject into the cylinders. The time in which is takes enough exhaust to actuate the compressor blades of the turbo is called the turbo lag. If you find that this turbo lag develops into a longer and longer period of time it can indicate issues with the turbo system. The acceleration curve will lengthen as the blades of the turbo fail to compress the air in an adequate time. It can also be big problem if the blades of the turbo block the flow of air to the cylinders which can cause significant damage to your engine.
